Free bleep sound effect, the censor beep

Bleep is the flat tone that covers a swear word on TV. The other sounds in the collection are short buzzes that say no. A censor bleep must match the length of the word it hides. Note length in the editor sets that length before you download. Ask your AI agent for a bleep as long as the word, then shape its tone and length.

Sounds from an AI assistant

Notify Sound works as an MCP server for AI assistants. The assistant designs every layer of a sound and returns a link. The link opens that sound in the editor.

Example prompt after installation

The assistant takes a plain request like this one, once Notify Sound is connected.

Use Notify Sound to make a censor bleep half a second long at 1 kHz for my video. Send me the link.

Censor a TikTok, a YouTube video or a podcast

Bleep is the standard 1 kHz censor tone. It is made with a synth, so it is royalty-free and free for commercial use with credit. You can make it exactly as long as the word it covers.

A wrong answer buzz for quiz videos and streams

Error, Warning Buzz and Console Deny say no in a quiz clip, a game show stream on Twitch or a classroom game. Uh-Oh says no in a softer, funnier way.

Bleeps for a Discord soundboard

A censor bleep is a favorite on a Discord soundboard. A different Pitch gives each server its own bleep.

An error tone for your iPhone, Android phone or app

A short, low buzz marks a failed payment or a wrong password in an app. It also works as a notification sound on an iPhone or an Android phone.

Shaping a bleep

What is the censor bleep made of?

Bleep is a plain sine wave at 1,000 Hz with no effect, held for 0.6 seconds. A square wave at the same pitch gives the harsher game show buzz.

How do I fit a bleep to a word in a video?

Check how long the word lasts in your video editor. Open Bleep and set Note length to that time. Download it, put it on a track above the voice, and mute the voice under it.

Make your own sounds

  • Stack layers of tone or noise and shape each one with its own sliders.
  • Change pitch, length, echo and tone while the sound loops, so you hear every move.
  • Save to your library, share a link, and download the sound when it sounds right.
