Shaping a whoosh

What makes a whoosh sound heavy or fast?

Pitch and Sharpness of the noise layers set the weight. Deep Whoosh starts from brown noise at 180 Hz with a Sharpness of 1, a wide, low rush. Sword Swish uses white noise at 2,500 Hz with a Sharpness of 8, a thin band that sounds like a blade.

How does Reverse Whoosh stop so hard?

Reverse Whoosh has an Attack of 0.75 seconds and a Ring out of 0.015 seconds on every noise layer. The air swells for most of the sound and cuts off at once. A low hit starts after 0.8 seconds, exactly where the swell ends.

How do I make a whoosh longer for a slow shot?

Note length sets how long the air holds, and Attack sets how long it takes to build. Fly By holds for 1.2 seconds, and its Slide drops the pitch by 3 to 5 semitones as the jet passes. A longer Note length stretches that drop over a slower pass.
